Today, February 19th, marks the launch of the first annual Fierce 50 Campaign. This campaign began with a simple idea by Catherine Grace O’Connell just a few short months ago of bringing together 50 female bloggers over the age of 50 in celebration of midlife on the 50th day of the year. And, if you know anything about Catherine, though time was short, she decided she would make it happen ~ she envisioned a true celebration of this midlife we are experiencing ~ a real launching pad for the Second Act in life. And so, the wheels were set in motion to create The Fierce 50 Campaign.
The more I learned about this Movement, the more my excitement grew. Many of these women had been blogging/influencers for quite some time and I was anxious to glean from their wisdom and experience.
THE NEW FACE OF 50 !
Each blogger was given a partner, someone she would get to know and then write about for the Campaign launch. When I received my partner’s name I was just overjoyed!! I am so honored to introduce you to my new friend, Cyndi Spivey!! Cyndi has an enormous presence in the blogger/influencer arena. We scheduled a quick chat in order to get to know each other a bit (she’s in Kentucky and I’m in North Carolina) and I was surprisingly nervous as I answered her call. You see, I am oh-so-new to this blogging thing and she is practically royalty . . . and busy, busy, busy! I knew she was kindly cramming me in to an already tight schedule and I had lots of questions and very little to offer – I decided to refrain from asking for too much advice and just stick to the “get to know her” angle – but that mindset quickly changed.
We began with the usual exchange of basic information – here’s who I am and here’s what I’ve done (and trust me, she’s done A LOT!) but the thing that stands out in my mind is how the conversation quickly moved to one of kindness and sincerity. Cyndi is one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. She spent a great deal of time that afternoon mentoring me on what to do next in my journey as a new blogger and emphasizing that she was just a phone call away if (when!) I needed further advice. I realized then that that Gorgeous face was equally matched by such a sweet, sweet spirit.
This precious lady certainly lived up to the name of Grace + Beauty – Inside And Out!!
Cyndi began blogging as a hobby in 2009. A few years passed and she realized she could mix her passions for Jesus and fashion utilizing her blog where she shares tips on fashion and beauty while keeping us reminded that true beauty begins on the inside. Cyndi is a well-known speaker at Christian women’s conferences and also speaks at blogging conferences (including Bloggy Conference 2012 and the Haven Conference 2015). She is married to Wayne, a pastor and her photographer and they have two grown children and one precious grandson who has stolen their hearts.
Cyndi is stunning and I believe her beauty exudes from the inside. She has that “girl-next-door” look. You know the one – gorgeous smile, fabulous hair (I’m allll about that hair!) and an ease about her that lets you know you’re going to like her even before you’ve actually met!
Cyndi has impeccable style. The details are never missed. Her looks are current while maintaining an element of a classic style. Such a wonderful example of this New Face of 50!

A New Day For 50 !
What an honor it is to be included among such a beautiful, talented and Fierce group of women!
I was in conversation a few days ago with a 50+ friend talking about women of our age. As we chatted, I just kept thinking how strongly I believe that it is our responsibility, as experienced women of wisdom, to pave the way for those coming along behind us – To lead by example in loving support of those in our circle. Lifting other women higher to be their best and finding that in the process you’ve become the very best version of you. Such A Gift!! If you reap what you sow, and I believe that to be true, then this Campaign is the beginning of something Wonderful!! I am truly so blessed to be a part of THE FIERCE 50!
The Fierce 50 Campaign was created to shift a paradigm and to raise awareness of women in their 50s.
“When we were growing up, our experience of this age group was vastly different than our current experience. It’s time for us to come together and unite as one to show our support and love for one another. We’re firmly committed to ending competition amongst women and celebrating support, promotion and collaboration with one another. Let’s show the world who we are and that 50 is now a starting point, a launching pad and a time of celebration and freedom for women at midlife and beyond,” says Catherine Grace O’Connell..
