I recently slipped away for a little mini-getaway to the coast.

My daughter attends UNC-W and has the cutest little apartment there.  We spent 4 wonderful days together filled with too much talking, lots of laughter, a ton of cooking and not near enough sleep for this Mama!

Normally we spend most of our daytime hours on the beach, we both love it so, but the weather isn’t warm enough for all-day-beachin quite yet so we spent the hours filling her freezer (she’s a size zero but eats like a trucker!) with homemade meals, meeting her friends for brunch and a bit of shopping (who am I kidding – We Shopped Til We Dropped!!! 🙂

My Meg is absolutely adorable and a true beauty inside and out.  She is completely make-up crazed – wonder where that came from?! – and her application is always perfection.

We were wandering through Sephora on a Tuesday afternoon and having absolute hissy fits over lip colors when our conversation spilled over to include a couple college girls standing nearby.  They had passed my daughter a few moments before and, in total Meg fashion, she had complimented them on their eye shadow.   One of the girls mentioned my daughter’s beauty and then said, “and you’re just so nice – that’s so rare.”    My immediate thought was, “Awww, what a kind thing to hear.”  But the thought that quickly followed was one that lingers in the back of my mind as a constant, “Women need to be more kind.  Women need to say what they feel instead of letting the moment pass.  Women Need To Love Women!

We spent over an hour in that Sephora, deciding which lip moisturizers were best and selecting some pretty pinks and corals to cover our pouts – darks and lights – mattes and gloss!(Linked Below)

But as we shopped our chatter took on a more serious tone.  It’s a conversation we’ve been having since she was first able to curl those pretty lips and show me a gummy smile – Every Woman’s Beauty Begins Within.   What comes off those perfectly lined lippies can make or break someone!   Sounds a bit dramatic, doesn’t it?  And yet, it is a simple truth . . . our words can cause great pain or great joy.   There is Power In The Pucker!

We Are WOMEN . . .   WE NEED TO HEAR IT!  WE NEED TO SAY IT!!!!

Our words are so very powerful!   Think about it . . .  How many times (I can’t count mine!) has your day been altered by what someone DID OR DID NOT SAY to you??

Often we are so busy looking for affirmation that we forget to GIVE affirmation!  Ladies, let’s be honest – when someone says we look pretty or we did a job well,  it changes our demeanor and brightens our day.  How often have you passed another woman who gives you a momentary glance and keeps moving – you know the one . . .  the one that says, “I see you but you don’t matter.”   Ladies we ALL matter!  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we CHOSE to make others believe that they matter.  That they are VISIBLE.   We all want to be visible (well, except on Dirty Hair Day 3!) ha!

Do you understand the power YOU have over others?

We’ve all done it.  A kind thought dances across your brain as you’re talking with a friend or co-worker, but you JUST DIDN’T BOTHER to verbalize it??  No big deal, right?  However, if that same person chooses to speak an affirmation to you, your perfectly pink pout immediately takes a turn upward (even if its an inward smile . . . God forbid we allow someone to think we Need their kindnesses!!)!  Your confidence is elevated and, maybe, if even just for the moment, you may actually feel you’ve had a sip from the Cup Of Confidence!   If that is true, then WHY are we not using our words to lift those around us??   Is it a choice??  Are we choosing NOT to encourage others OR do we just walk through each day on Automatic??   I believe the latter is closer to the truth.  We are busy, busy bees!  We have much to do.  A checklist to complete – And I totally get it!

BUT I Also BELIEVE WE MUST Begin Living Each Day With ATTENTION TO INTENTION!

Purposeful words can create confidence,  encourage the downcast and give life!  We must use our words as positive power – women need others in their lives who care and who take the time – even if only for a moment – to Say It!!

CHOOSE TO USE

So speak with intention every day.  Just start small – say one thing to one person that will lift them to new highs  and create a new habit that can turn someone’s day around.  It may be the only kind word they’ve heard all week . . . and wouldn’t it be nice if it came from you?!

So let’s give out some LIP SERVICE to those who are placed in our path today  and CHOOSE TO USE The Power In Your Pucker

Have A Great Monday Lovies!
